This is an amazing book by Anthony Horowitz, in the action genre. The protagonist, Alex John Rider, is a boy who gets unwittingly recruited into the English spy agency, MI6. We follow Alex through a series of books that begins with Stormbreaker, and finishes on the thirteenth, Nightshade. Alex, throughout the collection of books is always reluctant to be recruited once more into the the service.
Alex smiled queasily. “I hope you’re not looking at me.”
Alex Rider- Stormbreaker
It first kicks off when his uncle, Ian Rider, dies in a car accident, but Alex is suspicious, and investigates to find out more. That is when MI6 first have a proper encounter with the quick-thinking, fast-moving Alex. A short while later, they contact him, and send Alex off on a suicide mission. He then finds himself caught up in a complex plot involving viruses, revenge, and an unfortunate knife-thrower. Alex encounters a deadly sea creature, and finds himself placing his life in the hands of a yo-yo.
With gadgets, high-speed chases, and a slightly mad villain, Stormbreaker is a book worth reading. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
